????Baker Hughes: US rig count unchanged at 397

????The US drilling rig count is unchanged week-over-week at 397 rigs working for the week ended Feb. 19, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is down 394 units from the 791 rigs working this time a year ago.

????The number of rigs drilling on land was up 1 unit with a total of 380. The number of rigs drilling in inland waters was unchanged at 1 unit. The number of rigs drilling offshore decreased by 1 unit to reach 16.

????US oil-directed rigs decreased by 1 from last week to reach 305 units. This time a year ago, 679 units were drilling for oil. Rigs targeting gas increased by 1 to 91 rigs, 19 fewer than were drilling for gas at this time a year ago.

????Of the major oil and gas-producing states, Texas and North Dakota each gained a single rig for the week to reach 194 and 14 rigs, respectively.

????Louisiana and Alaska dropped 1 rig each to reach 47 and 3 rigs drilling for the week, respectively.

????Canada’s rig count decreased by 4 units to 172 rigs drilling for the week. The count is 72 fewer than the 244 units drilling this week a year ago. At 100 units, Canada’s oil-directed rig count is down 1 unit for the week. The gas-directed rig count in Canada is down 3 units to 75.
